Hurt

Hurt
By Jodette P

We are men on the outside.

Grown. Fearless.

But inside, it is a fragile place.

Don’t be broken. Don’t be broken.

We can’t fix what we’ve lost,

but we can mend the heart and say what’s unspoken.

Let out the tears.

Let them graze your cheeks.

Let them roll over the bone.

Let them splatter. Let them splatter.

We can’t fix what we’ve lost,

but we can cry the tears then piece back the shattered.

Inside, it is a fragile place.

The tears graze and roll and splatter.

But we are men on the outside.

On the inside too. On the inside too.

We can’t fix what we’ve lost,

but we can cry the tears and mend the heart and the hurt will not get you.
